Kids These Days

When you find a band your obsessed with, with a sound you've never heard before and lyrics that capture the truth of how kids are these days, it's hard to take off repeat.

Kids These Days have an infection sound, fusing jazz, blues and hip hop. With a sweepingly smooth rapper and enchantingly soulful female and male vocalist, each song eloquently balances timeless and new age vibes. Then you'll hear the trumpet and electric guitar swirl into it all unexpectedly. Eventually it all makes sense, leaving you yearning for more.

Their sound makes it hard to believe they're 18, until you listen to some of the lyrics.

"I get it funky like a fat girl farted"

KTD awaken some lingering dreams of stardom and teenage nostalgia. Meeting in high school, they are far from a suburban garage  band. They've played Lollapalooza, Summerfest and won Congress Theater’s Next Big Thing in 2009. They are on a slow and steady pace to creating something inspiring.

KTD released a six track EP titled Hard Times in 2011. CHECK IT OUT.

The Chicago based band is currently producing a second album is recording with someone from the same roots, Jeff Tweedy (lead singer of Wilco) I can't express how excited I am for some new tunes by this dynamic band.

Kids These Days are coming to Madison, WI December 2nd. I'll be there...will you?

No this is not a promo. I just think people should enjoy good music. And good music is better live.

Fact.

So Let Them Eat Cake...

Marie Antoinette. Combining vintage lives of royals, rock music, dramatic food and the universal desire for love and family. She is defiantly not the ideal role model, but neither am I. For a second I wished I was her, but being married off to form an alliance isn't worth all the shoes. She was also not listening to The Cure or The Strokes which is reason alone for your life to suck. The combination of these things makes me love this movie and now I want to run in a field while listening to records. Combining these things makes my life...minus the royalty.

This is my first blog post....that isn't a class assignment.

I'm going to share something here. Share my music, because if my life were a movie, it would have the best soundtrack. Share my stories, which question whether i should stop being a wino. Share my obsession with different time periods, because everyones' golden age is not their present. And share the things I'm afraid to write, because it makes my thoughts permanent and forces me to confront things that are buried.

So hi, I'm Sarah and my friends call me  midget or neubie...not because I'm new but because it's my last name. Here are some things to get to  know me.

1. I can't sleep without socks.
2. I have middle child syndrome, but I'm obsessed with my sisters.
3. Fall is my favorite season.
4. I fall easily.
5. My friends who think I'm funny are more absurd than I am.
6. I am inclined to like someone better if they are Jewish.
7. I am adventurous but end up watching movies in bed more than I'd like to.
8. I have commitment issues.
9. I listen to music doing everything.

Nice to meet you
